| Spoken Introduction | Ladies and gentlemen, tonight I'm going to present a little western life episode entitled, "A Life on the Prairie for Me." In this song, I usually have the assistance of a real horse, but, unfortunately while I was coming to the theatre tonight, I had the horse tied behind me car, and when I got here I found I'd lost him. The manager, however, has kindly lent me a horse's skin and all I want now is a gentleman to fill it for me, if anyone will volunteer to play the part for me? "I don't mind having a try, Gov'nor." "Oh, will you play the horse for me?" "With pleasure!" "Very kind of you; you won't take my goat, then, will you? I say, have you played an animal part before son?" "I once played the part of a monkey." "Naturally. If you'll just come around the side of the stage door, Mr. Darwin, and put on the horse's skin... there now face the first persons' chorus - thank you, sir"... music plays. |
