Description"Bakelite" is the trade name for the first synthetic plastic formed from phenol and formaldehyde. Walter Stenning's engraving is an unique use of the material. Stenning patented the process known as Stenogravure in 1921. The phenolic plate is engraved and filled with gold and silver pigment.
