Acrylic Structural Sheet Sample

TitleAcrylic Structural Sheet Sample
Object NameAcrylic Structural Sheet Sample
Manufactured ByAmerican Acrylic Corp.
DescriptionLumasite acrylic samples. Twelve square samples attached to a chain." American Acrylic Corporation was incorporated in 1964 to manufacture reinforced acrylic sheets for lighting and decorative use. Some of the original technology resulted from research and development at the DuPont Company in Wilmington, Delaware. LUMAsite® is the trade name for Reinforced acrylic sheets and diffusers marketed for construction-related applications, including architectural and display lighting, partitions, translucent glazing panels, illuminated walls, window treatments, and sign backgrounds. According to the manufacturer “The superior toughness and rigidity of LUMAsite® sheets are the result of reinforcement by an immensely strong web of glass fibers. In sign and display whites and colors these fibers are not visible. In most architectural and designer panels the fibers are deliberately visible, lending a "silken cobweb" effect. LUMAsite® panels retain their strength and color identity even when exposed long years to most severe outdoor conditions. These panels are the result of several decades of co-operation between DuPont and American Acrylic companies.”
